文字のマスコット
"Yuru-chara is short for "yurui character", which translates as "loose character". These are mascots used to identify and promote areas and festivals in Japan. Some are based on people, others on animals or creatures from folklore. Still others are just plain goofy. However, they do have cute, nifty costumes.
There was a festival of these festival mascots last weekend. Here is a link to some photos. I particularly like the crabs.
